I am an Associate Professor of English at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. In fall of 2024, I will be moving onto Iowa State University in Ames, IA as an Associate Teaching Professor of English in their Technical Communication program, where I will be teaching courses in Technical Communication, UX/UI, and writing. I teach writing-intensive courses in technical and professional writing, public writing, and grant writing. Most recently, I've taught courses on User-Experience (UX) and Usability, and will teach a class on Emoji as Language in Fall 2021. I direct the Writing Across the Curriculum program where I have the privilege of working directly with faculty on their writing-to-learn courses. My published research focuses on first-generation college students, pedagogy, and maternal rhetorics. I have recent publications in The Journal of Multimodal Rhetorics and Survive and Thrive: A Journal for the Medical Humanities and Narrative as Medicine. I am co-editor for a collection on academic motherhood titled Academic Mothers Building Online Communities: It Takes a Village that was published by Palgrave Springer in June of 2023. My research-in-progress is focused on how mothers use online support groups to advocate for the health of their children. I'm also writing a collaborative chapter on breastfeeding supports, and a sole-authored chapter that focuses on the ways the writing process interweaves with the therapeutic process while mothering in a pandemic.
On a personal note, I'm a busy mom to identical twins. When I have spare time, I enjoy playing open-world video games on PC. My favorite games include the Fallout franchise and Elder Scrolls: V. I have currently been playing Sons of the Forest and Wylde Flowers, which is similar to Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing.
